Flagstone is Durable
Flagstone is one of the best materials for patios because joints allow water to permeate and it holds up well in the freeze and thaw weather conditions that we have here in Denver, Colorado.
Flagstone is Beautiful
Flagstone by Highlands Landscaping creates a distinctive, natural look in your landscape. The stones often have color variations or markings that add to their beauty. Flagstone works well in both traditional or modern landscapes
The installation of the flagstone is the same process as pavers, we perform the following to ensure a long-lasting functional patio:
Preparing & Grading
When building a patio or a walkway using flagstone we remove 8” to 12” of soil. After removing the soil we will compact and grade the soil and install geotextile fabric. (Geotextile is typically defined as any permeable textile material used to increase soil stability, provide erosion control and increase the strength up the 40%).
Leveling & Compaction
After the fabric we will install ¾ minus gravel and compact every 3”. The last material before the pavers is 1” of sand. This is a leveling layer that the flagstone is siting on.
When installing flagstone we check every single piece to ensure proper drainage.
Polymeric sand is used to fill the joints between pavers, including concrete pavers, brick pavers, and stone pavers. This product is a fine sand combined with additives, usually silica, that, when mixed with water, form a binding agent. These binders lock the sand particles together, which helps lock all the pavers together.
