Prepare For Your Estimate

Ready to get started? Let’s make it easy.

We want to give you the most accurate estimate possible, and a little preparation goes a long way. To help things run smoothly and ensure we capture every detail of your vision, we’ve put together a few simple steps you can take before we connect. Here is how you can prepare for your upcoming estimate:

1. Define Your Goals and "Must-Haves"

Before the meeting, think about how you want the space to function. Are you looking to create an entertainment hub, a low-maintenance sanctuary, a safe play area for kids and pets, or simply boost your home's curb appeal? Group your ideas into "must-haves" versus "nice-to-haves" so we can prioritize what matters most to you.

2. Gather Inspiration (Photos & Styles)

A picture is worth a thousand words. Show us what you love!

  • Browse Pinterest, Houzz, or Instagram and save photos of plants, hardscapes (patios, walkways), and color schemes that catch your eye.

  • Conversely, feel free to show us what you don’t like—knowing what to avoid is just as helpful.

  • Do you have a preferred material palette in mind? Natural Stone, Porcelain Pavers, Warm Wood Elements, Artificial Turf, etc.

  • Which planting style best reflects your preference? Lush & Layered, Clean & Minimal, Native & Regionally Appropriate, Drought-Conscious.

3. Have a Budget Range in Mind

We want to design a space you love that also aligns with your financial comfort zone. Having a rough budget range in mind allows us to recommend the right materials, plant sizes, and scope of work from the very start, preventing us from designing a dream yard that stretches past your boundaries.

4. Maintenance Management

Have an idea of what maintenance level you are comfortable with once the project is complete. Every beautiful landscape requires some upkeep, but the amount of time (or money) you want to invest in it long-term will heavily dictate our design and material choices. Think about where you fall on the maintenance spectrum:

  • Low-Maintenance: You want a "set it and forget it" yard. We’ll focus on hardy native plants, artificial turf, decorative gravel, and durable hardscapes like porcelain pavers or concrete.

  • Moderate Maintenance: You don't mind a little weekend weeding, seasonal pruning, or deadheading flowers to keep things looking sharp.

  • Hands-Off (Hired Help): You want a lush, intricate garden or manicured lawn, but you plan to hire a professional crew to handle the upkeep.

Letting us know your preference upfront ensures we build a space that fits your lifestyle, not just your aesthetic.

5. Property Insights

Understanding these factors allows us to design a landscape that thrives and avoids logistical delays.

  • Sun exposure across the space: Note whether the project area receives full sun, partial shade, or is predominantly shaded throughout the day.

  • Irrigation system status: Let us know if you have an existing system, if your current system requires enhancement, or if an irrigation system is not installed.

  • Drainage or grading concerns: Identify if there are any known issues, such as standing water after rain, sloped areas eroding, or water pooling near the foundation.

  • HOA guidelines or architectural restrictions: Check if your neighborhood has specific rules regarding plant choices, fence heights, hardscape materials, or required approval processes.

6. Lifestyle & Features

Please consider any elements you would like thoughtfully integrated into your design:

  • Outdoor Lounge / Entertaining Terrace

  • Culinary Space (Outdoor Kitchen / Grill)

  • Fire Feature (Fire Pit / Fireplace)

  • Water Feature (Fountain / Pool / Spa Integration)

  • Shade Structure (Pergola / Covered Patio)

  • Lawn or Turf Area

  • Garden or Raised Planters

  • Architectural Lighting

  • Children’s Play Space

  • Pet Accommodations

7. Personalization

  • Who will primarily enjoy this space? (family, guests, pets, etc.).

  • What would make this project feel exceptional to you?

  • Is there anything else you would like us to thoughtfully consider?
